📄 Essential Documents Must Have

Valid Passport

At least 6 months validity recommended. Must have blank pages for visa stamps.

CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies)

Issued by your UK university after you accept their offer. Contains a unique reference number you'll need for your application. Valid for 6 months.

TB Test Certificate

Required for Nigerian applicants. Must be from an approved clinic. Valid for 6 months from X-ray date. View approved clinics

Proof of Funds (Bank Statements)

Must show funds held for 28 consecutive days. The 28-day period must end within 31 days of your application date. Calculate how much you need

💰 Financial Documents

Bank Statements Required

Official stamped statements from a regulated bank. Must show 28 consecutive days with required balance. No fintech apps (Grey, Wise, etc.).

Birth Certificate If using parent's funds

Must show both parents' names. Required to prove relationship if using parent's bank account for POF.

Consent Letter If using sponsor's funds

Simple letter stating the sponsor authorizes you to use their funds. Include sponsor's name, your name, account details, and amount. Can be handwritten or typed.

Loan Agreement If using loan

Official loan letter confirming no conditions except successful admission. Must be in your name.

🎓 Academic Documents

Degree Certificate Required

Your bachelor's degree or highest qualification certificate.

Academic Transcripts Required

Official transcripts from your previous institution. If unavailable, provide university contact for UKVI to verify directly.

WAEC/NECO Results Required

Your secondary school leaving certificate results.

English Language Test Results If required

IELTS, TOEFL, or approved test. Not needed if you have a degree taught in English from a recognized institution, or if your university provides exemption.

NYSC Certificate Required

Certificate of national service or exemption letter. Helps explain employment gaps.

ATAS Certificate If studying sensitive subjects

Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate. Required for certain postgraduate courses in science/technology. Check with your university.

💼 Employment Documents Recommended

Employment Letter

If currently employed. Confirms your position, salary, and that you have permission to study.

Work Reference Letters

From previous employers to explain work history. Especially important if you have employment gaps to explain.

Self-Employment Proof If self-employed

CAC registration, client reference letters, bank statements showing business activity, tax returns if available.

👪 For Dependants If bringing family

Marriage Certificate

For spouse/partner applications. Must be officially certified.

Children's Birth Certificates

For child dependants. Must show both parents' names.

Relationship Evidence

Photos together, communication history (WhatsApp, emails), joint financial documents, etc.

Additional POF for Dependants

London: £845/month × 9 = £7,605 per dependant. Outside London: £680/month × 9 = £6,120 per dependant.

👶 If You're Under 18 Additional requirements

Parental Consent Letter

Written consent from both parents for: your visa application, your living arrangements in UK, and your travel to UK.

Birth Certificate

Showing both parents' names to confirm relationship.

Document Preparation Tips

Format Requirements

  • All documents must be in English or have certified translations
  • PDFs should be clear and legible (minimum 300 DPI)
  • Maximum file size: 5MB per document
  • You can merge multiple pages into one PDF (e.g., all passport pages)
  • CamScanner is acceptable if quality is good
